When Is the Best Time to Charter a Yacht in Bodrum? A Month-by-Month Guide
Bodrum is one of the Aegean's finest sailing grounds, and at Blu Yachting we sail it all season long. Timing your trip well makes all the difference to weather, crowds and cost, and it is one of the questions we are asked most often. This month-by-month guide walks you through the weather, sea temperatures and sailing conditions so you can pick the perfect window to join us on the water.
When do we think is the best time to charter a yacht in Bodrum?
In our experience, the best time to charter a yacht in Bodrum is May to June and September to October. These shoulder months bring warm, settled weather, calm seas, comfortable temperatures and far smaller crowds than peak summer, ideal for relaxed sailing and unhurried exploration. July and August are the hottest and busiest months, and we recommend them to swimmers and sun-seekers who enjoy the energy of the peak season.
When does our Bodrum yacht charter season run?
Our Bodrum yacht season, in line with the wider Turkish charter calendar, runs roughly from April to late October, with our core period from May to October. Outside this window the weather is mild but rainy, and many charters and seasonal venues close. We always recommend the warmer months for sailing, and we are on the water throughout.
What is the Bodrum weather like month by month?
Here is our month-by-month guide to help you plan your trip with us.
April in Bodrum: Spring Weather and Sailing
Spring is blooming and the landscapes are beautifully green, but the sea is still cool at around 17 to 18°C and the weather can be changeable. We find April good for early-season sailing and quiet bays, though less ideal for guests whose priority is swimming.
May in Bodrum: Warm Weather, Calm Seas
One of our favourite months to be on the water. Air temperatures sit around 22 to 26°C, the sea warms to roughly 20°C, winds are steady and the coves are uncrowded. We actively recommend May for relaxed, unhurried charters.
June in Bodrum: Sunny Days, Quiet Bays
Warm and reliable, with air temperatures in the high 20s and sea temperatures around 22 to 23°C. Long sunny days and pleasant sailing conditions before the peak rush begins. A month we enjoy greatly.
July in Bodrum: Peak Summer Heat and Wind
High summer arrives in earnest. Temperatures often top 30°C and the sea is warm and inviting. It is busy and lively, and the Meltemi wind picks up, refreshing but occasionally brisk for midday sailing. We manage our routes accordingly and keep guests comfortable throughout.
August in Bodrum: Warmest Sea of the Year
The hottest and busiest month, with the warmest sea temperatures of the season at around 26 to 27°C and occasional heatwaves. Wonderful for swimming, though bays and marinas are at their fullest and prices peak. We recommend booking with us well in advance for August.
September in Bodrum: Late Summer Sailing
In our view, often the sweet spot of the entire season. An Indian summer with warm air, sea temperatures like a swimming pool, easing crowds and excellent sailing conditions. It is a top pick for many of our most discerning guests.
October in Bodrum: Mild Autumn Sailing
Still warm and genuinely beautiful in the first half of the month, with quiet bays and strong value. Weather grows more variable toward the end of October as the season winds down, but early October charters with us are consistently rewarding.
November to March in Bodrum: The Off-Season
Mild but rainy, with cooler seas and many charters and venues closed for the winter. We do not recommend this period for a swimming-and-sailing holiday, and our main season reflects that.
What about the Meltemi wind?
The Meltemi is a dry northerly wind that blows through summer, strongest in July and August. Our captains know it well. It typically builds through the day and eases in the evening, bringing a welcome cooling breeze and excellent conditions for longer sailing legs, though it can make midday crossings feel choppy. Conditions are generally predictable, which is a large part of what makes Bodrum such a rewarding place for us to operate.
How do we help you choose the right month?
We always match our recommendation to your priorities. For the warmest sea and the liveliest atmosphere, we suggest July or August. For the best balance of warm weather, calm bays, fewer crowds and better rates, we point guests toward May, June, September or early October. Our keener sailors love the steady summer Meltemi, while families and guests seeking peace and quiet consistently prefer the gentler shoulder seasons. Whatever your preference, we have a charter to suit it.
