The Perfect One-Day Yacht Route in Bodrum: Orak Island & Aquarium Bay

Luxury yacht cruising from Bodrum to Orak Island and Aquarium Bay, showcasing crystal-clear turquoise waters, snorkeling, swimming and the perfect one-day yacht charter experience.

If you only have a day on the water, we are determined to make it count. At Blu Yachting, our favourite one-day route pairs two of the coast's most beautiful swimming spots: Orak Island, the Turkish Maldives, and the crystal-clear Aquarium Bay. Below is our hour-by-hour plan, along with when we recommend going and how to book, so your day at sea runs smoothly from start to finish.

What is our perfect one-day yacht route in Bodrum?

Our classic one-day route sails from Bodrum out to Orak Island for swimming and snorkelling, then on to Aquarium Bay before returning to port by early evening. Together these two stops showcase the clearest water and richest marine life on the peninsula, and they make for an ideal Bodrum day trip by yacht. It is a route we have refined over many seasons, and one our guests consistently call a highlight of their trip.

What does our one-day route look like, hour by hour?

Luxury yacht cruising from Bodrum to Orak Island and Aquarium Bay, with guests enjoying swimming, snorkeling and scenic Aegean views throughout the day.

Timings are approximate and will flex with our captain and the conditions on the day.

Morning – Departure from Bodrum

We welcome guests on board around 10 to 11 am at the marina or harbour. As we cruise out of the bay, you will get a postcard view of Bodrum Castle from the water before settling in for the sail to Orak Island.

Midday – Orak Island

Reachable only by boat, Orak Island is the undisputed highlight of our day, and the stop our guests talk about most. Its vivid turquoise water, white sand and underwater walls make it a dream for swimming, snorkelling and diving, and with a little luck you may even spot a Caretta sea turtle. This is always our longest stop, with lunch served on board while you soak in the surroundings.

Afternoon – Aquarium Bay

We then sail to Aquarium Bay (Akvaryum Koyu), named for water so clear you can watch fish swim directly beneath you from the deck. It is one of the finest snorkelling spots around Bodrum and a wonderfully calm place to relax after lunch. We consider an Aquarium Bay stop essential on any day cruise we run.

Late afternoon – Return to Bodrum

After time for a final swim, and sometimes a quick stop at a nearby cove if the day allows, we cruise back to port, arriving around 5 to 6 pm. Sun-kissed, relaxed and, in our experience, already asking about the next trip.

Why do we build our route around Orak Island and Aquarium Bay?

Luxury yacht anchored at Orak Island and Aquarium Bay, surrounded by crystal-clear turquoise water and vibrant marine life in Bodrum.

Aquarium Bay

These two spots are our favourites for very good reasons. Orak Island offers some of the clearest, most colourful water on the entire Turkish coast and a genuine sense of seclusion that is hard to find elsewhere. Aquarium Bay delivers effortless snorkelling in calm, shallow water that guests of all ages enjoy. Pairing them gives our guests variety, scenery and the very best swimming the area has to offer, all in a single, well-paced day.

When is the best time to join our day cruise?

Our season runs from May to October, with the warmest water in July and August. For the clearest conditions and quieter bays, we particularly recommend late spring and early autumn. We always advocate for a morning start, setting off before the midday rush of day boats arrives at the most popular spots. It makes a real difference to the experience.

How do you plan the day with us, and what should you bring?

You can join one of our shared Orak Island boat trips, our most accessible and affordable option, or book a private day charter with us to set your own pace and shape your own route. Either way, we strongly recommend reserving ahead in peak summer.

We suggest bringing swimwear, a towel, snorkelling gear, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and water. Most of our tours include lunch and soft drinks on board, but we always confirm exactly what is provided when you book. We also offer hotel pick-up on selected departures to make the morning completely hassle-free.
